Due to its abundant success, AFW Industry Podcast & Talks Series returns for the second time during Amsterdam Fashion Week Edition 2022. With a line-up of industry professionals including EIC of Vogue Yeliz Cicek, PATTA’s Timothy Sabajo, stylist Lissa Brandon and founder of Gem Faces Ami Keita, topics such as entrepreneurship, identity and community will be discussed in great detail and tackled from a myriad of perspectives. Find out how to reserve a first-row seat and absorb the knowledge of our panel on the 2nd and 3rd of September.
Talks
The 2nd of September revolves around getting your foot into the fashion industry as a young professional, and is catered towards individuals with the aspiration to work in fashion design, creative direction, styling or PR. Moderator Ashlee Janelle Danso leads an in-depth conversation with Yeliz Cicek (EIC of Vogue), Stephany Goncalves (Comm. Director Oona Agency) and Poyan Rahimzadeh (Designer Pal Sporting Goods), and allows the public to gain an insight into the highly competitive creative industry.
The AFW talks will continue on Saturday the 3rd of September with the topic: Fashion & Music. This talk investigates the relationship between fashion and music as a long-standing one from a societal and cultural viewpoint. We’ve invited tastemakers of this generation Lissa Brandon (Stylist), Leafs Sensei (music artist) and Karim Afifi (Creative Lead Complex) to talk about the impact when these two collaborate. This talk will be moderated by design & fashion expert Arindy Melati.
The AFW Industry Talks will be held at The Collection, Stadhouderskade 85. Just like last Amsterdam Fashion Week Edition, this event will be open to public. Head over to the AFW Instagram to find out how to attend.
Podcasts
This year, AFW will host three podcast sessions tackling the subjects: beauty, community and fast fashion. Founder of Gem Faces Ami Keita and founder of Project Monolids Xiu Yun Yu question our perception of beauty, guided by cultural influences and societal ideas of aesthetics. Guided by moderator Yến-Nhi Lê, the dictatorship of beauty and image gets depicted through the question: Who sets the standards?
Right after, together with moderator Tyvanni Ebuehi, Maru Ashmellash (TNO), Trevon Ghann (Nike Partner Marketing) and Timothy Sabajo (PATTA) discuss the power of community building within the creative industry and make a case for brands to leverage this intrinsic need of belonging.
Lastly, Tyvanni Ebuehi throws herself in yet another meaningful conversation with stylist & influencer Nicole Huisman and Founder of 2050 Factory Naz Kawan on fast fashion, (social media) trends and how the fashion industry can contribute to a better world.
The AFW Podcast Series will be available the first of September on our website and Spotify. For more information, keep an eye on the AFW Instagram.
