Amsterdam Museum hosts Modemuze 10-Year anniversary talk at AFW 2025

On 1 September, during Amsterdam Fashion Week 2025, the Amsterdam Museum will host a special afternoon programme celebrating ten years of Modemuze and the results of the Unlocking Fashion Heritage project. Bringing together striking voices in fashion, heritage, and innovation, the event will reflect on a decade of collaboration across the Dutch and Flemish fashion heritage field, and look ahead to its future.

Founded in 2015 with just seven partner institutions, Modemuze has since grown into a vibrant network of 22 museums and heritage organisations in the Netherlands and Flanders. Through Modemuze.nl, the platform connects historical and contemporary perspectives on fashion, sharing collections and stories that speak to designers, researchers, and enthusiasts alike.

This anniversary programme will feature a series of short talks, presentations, and panel discussions, exploring topics such as digitalising craft and potential future collaborations in fashion heritage. Guests can expect insight from designers, technologists, curators, and cultural commentators who are shaping the way we archive, share, and reimagine fashion heritage.

Highlights include:

  • The State of Fashion with Branko Popovic (designer, director Fashionclash)
  • A presentation on the digitalisation process behind Unlocking Fashion Heritage by Mila Ernst & Debra Knoop
  • Panel discussions on the exploration of unlocking fashion heritage through new techniques featuring Gianni Antonia (Studio Cypher) and Daniel Korssen (ByBorre)
  • Conversations on new ways of collaborating through fashion with Lisa Konno, Ike Melchizedek (The Gang Is Beautiful), and Georgette Koning (Mirror Mirror)

The event will be moderated by Branko Popovic and will take place at the Amsterdam Museum (Amstel 51), with doors opening at 15:00. For more information, visit https://www.amsterdammuseum.nl/.
