De Brakke Grond – Stef Van Looveren: ONUS

Belgian artist Stef Van Looveren presents “ONUS” at De Brakke Grond, an exhibition exploring the intersection of technology and intimacy within queer communities. This abstract self-portrait uses fluid materials to symbolise self-transformation, reflecting on the blending of traditionally opposing spheres. Van Looveren’s work, which includes the distinctive accessories made for Ninamounah during AFW 2020, challenges and captivates with its blend of sensual and religious elements.

Amsterdam Museum – Tussen Kunst & Kitsch: Mode Editie

The Amsterdam Museum invites you to explore the intricate relationship between fashion and identity through “Tussen Kunst & Kitsch: Mode Editie”. This event delves into how fashion serves as a statement of our identity, the era we live in, and the groups we associate with. Huis Willet-Holthuysen – Dream Unit: shop it work it

At Huis Willet-Holthuysen, Dream Unit, the vibrant marketplace for emerging fashion and art, will showcase a selection of cutting-edge creations from up-and-coming designers, including fashion, jewellery, art, and books. Dream Unit not only acts as a retail space but as a living archive celebrating craftsmanship and community. During Museum Night, attendees can interact directly with the creators and participate in workshops that highlight the diversity of modern design.

Huis Willet-Holthuysen – The Patchwork Family
Saturday November 2nd – 7 PM – 2 AM
In the dome chamber of Huis Willet-Holthuysen, AFW’s favourite fashion collective The Patchwork Family will transform into living artworks, merging contemporary costume drama with the museum’s classical setting. These performances bring iconic queer underground figures into historical contexts, challenging institutional boundaries. In the ballroom, the collective invites visitors to engage in their archiving process, presenting past performances and highlighting the fluidity of cultural heritage through dynamic projections and sound.

Amsterdam Museum – ASMR-talk: Unboxing: Fashion from the Archives
Saturday November 2nd – 9 PM – 12:30 AM
Experience fashion preservation in an entirely new way with the ASMR-talk “Unboxing: Fashion from the Archives” at the Amsterdam Museum. This session offers a serene journey into the behind-the-scenes world of fashion conservation, where the gentle sounds of whispering, rustling archival paper, and fabric handling provide a soothing backdrop. The ASMR experience not only relaxes but also educates on the meticulous care given to fashion objects within the museum.

Stedelijk Museum – Freestyle Embroidery with Desirée Hammen
Saturday November 2nd – 7 PM – 12 AM
Fashion designer and artist Desirée Hammen brings her unique approach to embroidery to the Stedelijk Museum with a workshop that emphasises creativity without boundaries, defying most embroidery rules. “Freestyle Embroidery” encourages participants to experiment beyond traditional needle and thread techniques. Join in the fun and contribute to the creation of the largest embroidery artwork of Museum Night, discovering the magic of stitches and materials along the way.
