This edition of Amsterdam Fashion Week (AFW) marks a milestone debut: GIOIA, the digital platform for independent fine jewellery, is launching its very first Jewellery Hub. From Saturday 30 August to Thursday 4 September, GIOIA opens its doors at Galla Studios in Amsterdam-West with a week-long programme exploring jewellery and design, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
Open to the public daily from 11:00 to 17:00, the hub features a curated line-up of premium jewellery brands, including several represented exclusively by GIOIA. Highlights include Rick Voro, creator of the world’s first wearable liquid jewellery; Gaya Joyas, who incorporate rare Peruvian gemstones into their designs, and Isshi, the New York-based label adored by celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Sabrina Carpenter, and FKA Twigs. Dutch names are also well represented, with innovative brands like BHUMI (renowned for their 3D-printed pieces), Amsterdam Vintage Jewels (known for working with recycled gold and ethically sourced gems), and O’Gem, celebrated for their sustainable ‘Red Carpet Rings’ and distinctive design language.
Throughout the week, visitors are invited to drop in free of charge to explore the collections, meet the designers, and attend a variety of events, including the immersive Jewellery & Gems show.
A Fair Platform for Independent Makers
Named after the Italian word for both joy and jewel, GIOIA was founded by 26-year-old Dutch entrepreneur Kate Gioia. After building a successful fast-fashion jewellery company, Kate experienced first-hand the industry’s lack of transparency and ethics. Determined to drive real change, she founded GIOIA in late 2023: a digital platform that supports independent jewellery designers, empowers female creators, and guides consumers towards more conscious choices.
With a mission to bring more transparency, sustainability, and integrity to the premium jewellery industry, GIOIA offers a global platform for independent makers to connect with collectors and design enthusiasts. Through a rigorous selection process, the platform curates a collection of established, often female-led jewellery brands that prioritise original design, responsible production, and genuine impact.
Today, GIOIA represents independent designers across Europe (including the Netherlands, Spain, and Belgium), the UK, the US, Indonesia, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Collections range from accessible pieces starting at €50 to one-of-a-kind designs priced at up to €10,000.
First Physical Presence at AFW
GIOIA’s decision to make its physical debut during Amsterdam Fashion Week is no coincidence. AFW is known as a forward-thinking platform that champions new voices in fashion and design. The collaboration marks a key milestone for GIOIA, as it evolves from a purely online platform into a temporary, tangible community space.
“With this hub, GIOIA aims to be more than a gallery or showroom,” says founder Kate Gioia. “It’s a vibrant space where stories are shared and connections are made. We want to bridge the gap between maker and wearer, between the digital and the physical, between culture and commerce. The GIOIA Hub is a tribute to jewellery as a form of expression, heritage, and emotion.”
GIOIA Jewellery Hub: Programme Highlights
Located at Galla Studios (Tweede Hugo de Grootstraat 27, Amsterdam), the GIOIA Jewellery Hub will be open from 11:00 to 17:00 and will offer a dynamic space for designers, collectors, and design lovers to connect. The programme spotlights contemporary jewellery culture with a focus on craftsmanship, vision, and dialogue.
Saturday 30 August – Invite-Only Opening
An exclusive evening featuring previews of upcoming collections, informal drinks, and a DJ set. Guests will be introduced to the story behind GIOIA and meet some of the international designers represented on the platform.
Sunday 31 August – Public Opening
The hub opens its doors to the public with a celebratory day of music, drinks, and the opportunity to meet the makers behind the collections.
Monday 1 September – Panel Talk: The Future of Jewellery
An open conversation with designers, curators, and digital thinkers on the future of jewellery. How is technology changing how we design, wear, and buy jewellery? What roles do sustainability, heritage, and identity play?
Thursday 4 September – Jewellery & Gems Show
An artistic showcase where selected designers present their work through performance and movement. Rather than a traditional catwalk, this show explores the connection between body, adornment, and motion.
