Hul le Kes presents A/W 2024 collection ‘Collector’

In a harmonious blend of nature-inspired aesthetics and sustainable craftsmanship, Hul le Kes marked its fifth-year anniversary with the unveiling of its latest collection, ‘Collector,’ in a captivating fashion show held in the picturesque ‘Rode Hoed Amsterdam’. The Autumn/Winter 2024 collection draws inspiration from the serene beauty of coastal life and the art of beachcombing. Reflecting Hul le Kes’ commitment to exploring alternative approaches within the fashion industry, the collection offers a retreat from urban life, embracing a new rhythm and frequency for society.

From the outset, the runway came alive with models adorned in ensembles clearly inspired by nature. The entirety of the collection unfolds as utility wear for the romantic scavenger, weaving a narrative of practicality intertwined with a sense of adventure and nostalgia. Each garment, meticulously crafted with attention to detail and functionality, serves as a versatile companion for those who embrace the thrill of discovery amidst the natural world. From the halo-like headpieces crafted from twigs to the rugged rubber boots, every piece evokes the spirit of exploration and reverence for nature’s treasures. Complementing the neutral colour palette dominated by soothing beige tones, are subtle tie-dye techniques that further enhance the natural motifs. Accessories, reflecting the embodiment of cottage core, included wicker tools, adding a rustic charm to each ensemble. Notably, small patchwork details adorned clean-cut blazers, adding a touch of sophistication to the rustic aesthetic. A standout ensemble featured a scarecrow-inspired look, with the model clad in blue-grey tones and adorned with hat, broom, and twigs protruding from a bag wrapped around their back.

The craftsmanship of the ‘Collector’ collection was underscored by Hul le Kes’ commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. Utilising fabrics sourced from various sources, including vintage wool rugs, antique French linen, and old army and navy cotton overalls, the collection embodies the brand’s dedication to repurposing existing materials and minimising environmental impact.

During the presentation, the presence of employees from the Hul le Kes Recovery Studio highlighted the brand’s emphasis on repair and restoration, further deepening the narrative of ecological and socio-cultural sustainability in fashion.

As Hul le Kes commemorates its fifth anniversary, the fashion label prompts reflection on the individual’s role within communities and the broader fashion system. Through collaborations, awareness initiatives, and in-house production, Hul le Kes continues to pioneer alternative fashion systems and techniques, forging a new narrative for the industry’s future.
