“How to Navigate a Career in the Fashion Industry” will be moderated by Ginny Ramkisoen, the dynamic founder of WHO KNOWS GINNY. Ginny is a multidisciplinary media maker and creative with a proven track record in building successful platforms. After starting and selling her first major job platform, she now helms WHO KNOWS GINNY, where she continues to support and inspire creatives across various fields.

The talk will feature a panel of seasoned professionals who have each carved out impressive careers in the fashion industry:

Gijsje Ribbens is a renowned Amsterdam-based Creative Director, Brand Consultant, and Fashion Editor. With a BA in fashion design from the esteemed ArtEZ, Gijsje began her career at Vogue Netherlands and has since made a significant mark as a stylist. She is currently the Image Director at KASSL Editions and also founded RiRa objects in 2020. Gijsje’s diverse experience in both fashion and design offers invaluable insights into how to sustain a creative career in a competitive industry.

Daan de Greef has been a pivotal figure in Amsterdam’s fashion scene for over a decade. As the founder of Baskèts, he transformed a single sneaker shop into three iconic lifestyle stores that blend classic design with modern streetwear. Daan’s vision extends beyond fashion retail; with the New Amsterdam Surf Association, he merged urban fashion with surf culture, introducing a fresh perspective to both. Recently, he launched Café Baskèts, where fashion, design, and coffee culture intersect, further solidifying his influence on Amsterdam’s fashion landscape.

Maurice van de Stouwe is an independent shoe designer with a distinguished background in luxury fashion, having previously worked with renowned brands such as Jimmy Choo and Tom Ford. His designs are known for their elegance and innovation, earning him a reputation as a leading figure in high-end footwear. Maurice’s experience with top fashion houses has honed his expertise, making his current work as an independent designer both impactful and influential in the fashion industry.

In this talk, Ginny, Gijsje, Daan, and Maurice will share their personal journeys, challenges, and the strategies they used to overcome them. They will offer practical advice on how to navigate the often turbulent waters of the fashion industry, whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your career to the next level.
