With a strong sense of community and the blurring of creative fields and skills to reach new heights, Amsterdam’s designer scene heavily relies on collaboration. Reconstruct, the fashion collective consisting of four female designers, makes no exception in this. After collaborating with Weekday, Filling Pieces, Unrun and Pride Amsterdam in the last year alone, the collective joined forces with BYBORRE for its latest release. The capsule collection is made exclusively with deadstock, and will be presented on the 4th of May.
Last year, fashion brand BYBORRE lead by Borre Akkersdijk announced its departure from the fashion industry. Partly that is, as the brand will no longer be producing new collections, and shifted its focus completely to the creation of textiles for other parties. For this collaboration however, the brand dug into its archive one last time and donated its deadstock fabrics of the BYBORRE clothing line to Reconstruct. The collection exists of nine one-off pieces, colliding BYBORRE’s technical knits with Reconstruct Collective’s bold aesthetic.
To celebrate this collaboration, photographer Sophia Mulder captured the collection in a photoshoot that oozes a mysterious kind of boldness eminent to Mulder’s work. Featuring vibrant red, a deep purple and fading shades of pink, the collection focusses on silhouette with a colour pallet that supports the uniqueness of the shapes, rather than grabbing the attention away from the technicality of the clothes. Playing with the juxtaposition of sensual and sporty, latex gloves and corset structures alternate with functional hoods and adjustable drawstrings.
The nine items will be available for purchasing exclusively during a showcase on the 4th of may at The Social Hub in Amsterdam. Head to the Instagram of Reconstruct Collective to RSVP for the event.
