At NXT Museum, WE®️ Fashion stepped into new territory under the direction of filmmaker Halina Reijn. Together, the Dutch retailer and acclaimed director staged You Choose: a manifesto of individuality, unapologetic choices, and the power of self-expression.
Reijn, known for films such as Baby Girl and Bodies Bodies Bodies, brought a cinematic lens to the collaboration. The show unfolded inside the museum’s intimate cinema room, where sketches by the director were projected floor-to-ceiling, fusing seamlessly with the models’ walk. Fashion, film, and performance blurred into one.
The collection itself played with contrasts and subversions. Tailoring was layered and disrupted, jeans worn over green trousers, shirts stacked with ties and caps, oversized puffers thrown over sharp suits. Full monochrome looks anchored the lineup. An effortless all-white skirt-and-top pairing captured the understated elegance of the collection. An all-deep-purple ensemble, combined the soft textures of a knitted top with a body-hugging, knee-length leather skirt. The outfit was finished with knee-high black boots and leather gloves that matched the skirt, contrasting with the long sleeve top.
Across the walls, statements like “love who you are” and “I am here for me” echoed the collection’s core. With upbeat music and an assured cast, the presentation became less about clothes alone and more about confidence, identity, and standing firmly in one’s own skin.
The WE®️ Fashion show directed by Halina Reijn transcended a typical runway, a show that lingered like the closing credits of a film you want to play again.
