Studio Hagel | A decade of footwear innovation unveiled at AFW 2024

Today, Studio Hagel, the trailblazing experimental footwear design studio, marked its ten-year anniversary with a personable presentation during Amsterdam Fashion Week. For the first time in its storied history, the studio opened its doors to the press, offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the creative processes that have set it apart as a leader in the footwear industry.

Held at their creative hub on Ferdinand Huyckstraat, the presentation was a rare opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in the world of Studio Hagel. The studio, known for its cutting-edge collaborations with fashion giants like Off-White, Valentino, Moncler, and BOTTER, took guests on a journey through a decade of innovation. The space was transformed into a living gallery, showcasing an array of sneaker experiments, prototypes, and iconic pieces that have defined their legacy.

Visitors were treated to a curated display of the studio’s most significant projects, each piece telling the story of Studio Hagel’s evolution from a small, disruptive brand to a key player in global fashion. The exhibition highlighted their work with the late Virgil Abloh on Off-White’s footwear collections, as well as their creative partnerships with Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino.

The presentation was not just a display of technical skill but a testament to the studio’s philosophy: that true innovation comes from breaking free of conventions and embracing the unknown. It was a reminder of why Studio Hagel has become a beacon of creativity in the footwear industry.

The event also featured an in-depth look at HAGEL, the studio’s own footwear label launched in 2022. This segment of the presentation highlighted how the brand encapsulates years of experimental design into products that are not only wearable but also resonate with the studio’s avant-garde ethos. Attendees had the chance to preview upcoming collections, which promise to continue the studio’s tradition of challenging the status quo.

As the day concluded, it was clear that Studio Hagel’s first-ever public presentation was a resounding success. The event not only honoured their past achievements but also set the stage for the next chapter in their journey. With a decade of groundbreaking design behind them, Studio Hagel continues to inspire and lead the way in redefining the possibilities of footwear.
