Open to Public: Step Inside Arcatype’s A Space For Time during AFW26

Opening on the first day of Amsterdam Fashion Week, A Space For Time marks the debut exhibition of Amsterdam-based platform Arcatype. Hosted at The Gent on the Herengracht from 1 to 20 September, the public exhibition brings together emerging and established creators across fashion, interiors and lifestyle, inviting visitors to experience thoughtful design up close and reflect on how we choose to spend our time.

At a moment when the most authentic designers are being pushed out by mass brands, Arcatype is drawing a new map of craft and culture. A Space For Time is its first physical showcase, celebrating the time, skill and intention behind the work of these designers. Visitors are encouraged to connect directly with the makers and the stories behind their work.

“Real craftsmanship is difficult to experience through a screen,” the team explains. “It needs to be seen, felt and touched. Meeting the people behind the pieces gives them greater meaning. Understanding the time, care and skill that goes into making something creates a stronger connection between maker and wearer.”

The exhibition brings together a curated line-up of emerging and established designers, including Kentroy Yearwood, Balsais, Studio Rabbit, KLAS AMS, and a special collaboration between Oscalito and Multiple Identities, with additional names to be announced in the coming weeks. Fashion is presented alongside a collection of interior objects, creating a dialogue between disciplines and reflecting Arcatype’s ambition to build stronger connections across the wider design community.

Every participant has been selected according to three guiding principles: Craft, Character and Care. As the founders explain, they look for designers who think beyond the next trend, creating work defined by quality, a distinctive point of view and genuine consideration for people and planet.

More than an exhibition, A Space For Time asks visitors to reconsider what they value. “We don’t need more products; we need an elevation of products,” the founders say. “We hope visitors leave thinking differently about value—not in terms of quantity or speed, but in terms of craftsmanship, longevity and intention.” Alongside the objects on display, the exhibition also poses a broader question: where do we choose to invest our attention, and what kind of culture do we want to support?

Launching during Amsterdam Fashion Week, A Space For Time marks the beginning of Arcatype’s wider programme of exhibitions and events, designed to connect independent makers with audiences in meaningful ways. It also serves as a first introduction to the platform ahead of its online launch later this year, inviting visitors to experience its vision in person first.
