Yesterday evening, MARTAN welcomed friends of the house for an intimate dinner party inside the NACO Huisje, probably the most quaint location on AFW 2025’s schedule. Today, the doors officially open to the public, marking the brand’s most encapsulating project to date: its first flagship pop-up in Amsterdam.
The pop-up offers a complete MARTAN experience, blending exhibition and retail. Showpieces and archive designs are displayed alongside the newest collection, staged within one of the city’s most characterful landmarks. The NACO Huisje, designed in 1919 by Guillaume la Croix in Amsterdam School style, has lived many lives, from ticket office to ferry waiting room, before being carefully restored and returned to its original location on the IJ. During Amsterdam Fashion Week, it transforms once more, this time into MARTAN’s maritime world, thanks to a close collaboration with Het Scheepvaartmuseum.
Last night’s dinner presentation recalled their performance at Grand Hotel Amrâth during AFW 2022, this time in still life. Mannequins lounged on and around a long table. Dressed in MARTAN’s latest collection, they surrounded themselves by greenery and paper boats, gazing out across the IJ toward Amsterdam Noord. In the next room, the table was set for dining in nautical style: robes twisted between plates and candles, while scarves from the MARTAN x Het Scheepvaartmuseum Nautical Capsule Collection dangled from the setting like rigging on a ship. Alongside the capsule collection, MARTAN took to their archive and displayed their most recognisable pieces. A tableau vivant of the brand’s design identity, all in one pop-up experience.
